Chester the cat

Chester almost lost his life instead of a leg.

In 2016, 11-month old Chester certainly used one of his nine lives. He was caught in an illegal trap on the edge of Lenah Valley, Hobart. Captive, he cried out for several days until an off-duty police officer heard him. Since the officer immediately enlisted the help of a veterinary nurse and RSPCA Care Centre Hobart, they could carefully rescued him and put him into RSPCA Tasmania’s care.

The RSPCA Tasmania Veterinary Team discovered that Chester’s left leg required amputation and would need time to recover. During his initial rehabilitation, he became RSPCA Tasmania’s unofficial office cat for a couple of months. He became a bit of a poster boy by visiting schools and senior citizen’s events. He definitely loved all the attention!

A young family adopted Chester and he lives a happy life. He has settled in comfortably, is now a healthy weight and adores his family.

Cupcake Day is crucial for animals like Chester who needed help from a kind community. By hosting a Cupcake Day, you can help provide life-saving surgeries and rehabilitation for animals in need.
