The Baxta team baked to fight animal cruelty!
It's been two years since the Baxta team had a bake-off, so we were excited for a little friendly competition!
Last Tuesday, the Baxta Team exercised their creative culinary skills by participating in a cupcake bake-off event to raise money for RSPCA’s Cupcake Day. We had 6 team members compete for the coveted ‘Best Fudging Baker’ trophy, with each participant bringing their homemade cupcakes to the office for a blind taste tasting.
One by one, the contestants came into the office and placed their cupcakes away from prying eyes to remove any judgement bias. The contestants brought in Banana, Chocolate, Strawberry, Mimosa, Red Velvet and Cookie Dough Cupcakes. What a variety of flavours – with no discussion with each other, everyone had picked a different flavour! Each cupcake was photographed and sent to 4 of our remote team members to judge based on the cupcake presentation out of 10.
When it was time for the in-house judging, the cupcakes were lined up and presented to our P&C manager, Ash. Ash judged each cupcake on presentation (out of 10) and taste (out of 10). Each in-house and remote judge presented their scores with their feedback.
After the fun deliberation, the final scores were presented, with Arun’s Strawberry Cupcake taking the winning title! Arun was awarded the ‘Best Fudging Baker’ trophy and a $150 Class Bento Gift Voucher to hone his culinary skills. We presented the wost cupcake, the Banana Cupcake, with a surprise novelty prize – a ‘Batter Luck Next Time’ mug.
Overall, the bake-off was a huge success! The Baxta team were able to raise money for an important cause while having some fun, friendly competition.
We’ve currently $1719, putting us in 3rd place on the RSPCA’s team leaderboard. Our Baxta team bake-off was a blast, and we can't wait to do it again next year!
